Earth, Life, and Health
Everything is always connected, beyond time, and somehow right on time, if I can decode it.
I’m connecting today to Bangor, Wales, where dear Cuban friends are making their way in a new life, and they are asking for support.
Then from the portal of my keyboard and screen, which is the place where all this combines, I find an entwining of memories in heartful energies from Panchito, the Cacique of the Mountain, in Baracoa, Cuba.
Today’s also the day to include these prophecy teachings from Cree Elder Abe Burnstick, part of an article Chief Phil Lane Jr. had posted on Facebook. (Special hello to you subscribers who had met Abe back in Edmonton.)
This week’s message weaves these several diverse strands together. Each strand is an article in itself, inviting more expansion, but I’m keeping it short today. We can always expand more in the comments, or in another issue.
Help One Doctor to Help Others
Everywhere more doctors are needed, while doctors who are certified in other countries are not permitted to practice locally until they re-qualify. This is a global situation, but we can do something, one doctor at a time.
Our friend Sandra, a full doctor in Cuba, was miraculously able to leave Cuba with her husband and daughter, and start a new life in Wales. But until she is re-qualified, Sandra is restricted to being a hospital assistant in the UK, unable to apply her full expertise. Her husband surprised her with this GoFundMe campaign. James K-M and I met Sandra in Cuba many years ago, when she was translator for a 2009 exhibition curated by her husband, Pavel Alejandro Barrios Sosa. “The Artist Magicians” featured works by James along with the Cuban artists Joel Jover Llenderrosos and Osmany Soler Mena.
For the opening, Panchito, Elder of the Taino people, and his daughter, Idalis, were invited to bless and open the exhibition with a tobacco ceremony, song and prayer. They travelled to Camaguey with the Baracoa historian, Dr. Alejandro Hartmann. (Joe Clare was most generous in making this event possible.)
Over 300 people were in attendance while Panchito prayed for the earth, for life, and for health. I transcribed from the video that Sandra translated as follows:
I want to say thank you to all, all people from Cuba and Canada. I feel you as brothers.
Idalis lights the cigar, passes it to Panchito. She blows a special whistle sound as he holds the cigar upright while turning in the 4 directions. They hold their arms out wide, like wings, and before they turn with outstretched arms he says,
I’m going to the 4 cardinal points.
After returning, he prays, crying deeply from the heart,
Mother Earth, I love you so much, because you give us life. To all human beings. You give us help. For without help nobody can live. Rose, mother of the earth, I love you. Because you are the mother, of everything. We bless you …love us. Make us safer. I work for the seven powers.
The earth. The sun. The moon. The water. The wind. The stars. (The pleiades? audio isn’t so clear here) those are the seven powers of nature. Nature gives us this power. We are asking her, natural world, to be able to save lives, and we also care for all the sick people. (….) They are sons of the earth. The children, they are for everybody. They will acknowledge others as brothers - in spiritual song.
Idalis sings and they both bow to the earth between sections of the song. They bow at the end, then raise their hands waving to all, turning in the 4 directions. Then Idalis lights the cigar, and takes it to the artists, the curator and invited guests, before it is passed from person to person within the crowd.
This was many years ago now, and yet the message is still true today - to be able to save lives and to care for those who are sick and need healing. We are one family, dependent on earth and all of nature.
The Everywhere Spirit

Corvallis, Oregon, in 1976. From my knowledge, this is the first place where the Sweat Lodge was first utilized for treating alcoholism and drug abuse. So we went to Corvallis to learn from them.
These beloved elders shared many Prophecies and Spiritual Teachings, including facilitating Talking Circles, sometimes known as Sharing and Healing Circles. We took these Teachings of the Talking Circle back to United Indians and shared them wherever we could, as I am sure many others did the same, who learned from our beloved Elders Abe and Eddie. Talking, Sharing, and Healing Circles have since spread to Europe, the Americas, SE Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and beyond.
When teaching us, Dekshi Abe, older than Dekshi Eddie, would only speak in Cree, and Dekshi Eddie would translate into English. This is because they wanted us to fully understand the pure source of these Sacred Teachings and Prophecies, and they did not come from a book.
One of the Prophecies shared with us we could not understand. However, the other prophecies shared were clear. They told us, in essence:
"You young men will live to see the day when ‘The Everywhere Spirit’ will be physically manifest everywhere on Mother Earth. At that time, all the truth, hidden by lies and deceit, will be uncovered. With this gift from the Creator, we will be will be able to look into the eyes and faces of other Human Beings on the other side of Mother Earth, and they will be able to look into your eyes and faces and speak together. When this happens, use this gift to unite the People.”
They shared other details about the “Everywhere Spirit” that I did not understand until I began to serve as an Associate Professor of Indigenous Education at the University of Lethbridge in 1980. Then, when the Internet was revealed to me, I knew this was precisely what these two Elders had foretold.
We even used the University of Lethbridge’s Main Frame to work out a way so that all the 40 elders and spiritual and community leaders came together, December 27-30, 1982, to spiritually and ceremonially initiate Four Worlds where each would have the opportunity to sit together in a small talking circle.
Although, at the time, I did not know how to type or use a computer, I encouraged everyone around me to use digital technology and social media to communicate, learn, uplift, and unify Indigenous Peoples and our Human Family.
Since then, I have watched the fulfillment of the Prophecy of the Everywhere Spirit, with greater and greater capacity, depth, and reach, everywhere, all at once. It is clear that everything Dekshis Abe and Eddie foretold regarding the "Everywhere Spirit" is true.
