Hello dear friends and new subscribers,
We’re now well into May, and beautiful summer is in the air. The fountain is now officially working again!
I’m continuing the Riffing on Eternity series, but before you get to that, here’s a poem written last month, and even before that, watch me help James K-M build his pyramid for the Spring Art Show on Salt Spring Island. (Time lapse by Annika Hagen Siemsen)
Return
condense complexity
fuse fragments
return Dionysius
from the far-flung stars
mirror flashes of sun on sea
trident, thyrsus, trinity project
fusion or fission
chilled by the dark passage.
This call heard in secret silence
past right and wrong - a beacon signal
ultrasound heartbeat
riches cascade
from our Mother's cornucopia
hidden there is a pearl
seed-being
of the new
dare an infinitesimal particle
hold all this together?
such enormous gravity
blanks all questions
sludging through hyle's muck
cathartic sorrows
peel the soul free
buried solar seeds
chant together
secret sounds of life
all through the dark night.
Here’s the next part of my Riffing on Eternity series, where I take short quotes from notes on Platonism as writing prompts, then illustrate it with AI from Canva.
Realignment and a new calibration
Thanks for all your patience with my writing schedule for this newsletter. Sorry it’s become intermittent - events happened outside my writing zone.
And that writing zone has changed as I was profoundly shifting balance after the last Plato study courses for the term. They were challenging. The end of the Phaedo was very moving - it is, after all, a cathartic dialogue. That, plus the study of Timeaus, opened a new participation within this entire great animal of life.
Onward! (and upward!)
I really appreciate you taking the time to read, share and comment. And to you dear supporters with paid subscriptions, big gratitude!
